This page has a variety of different resources which may help you. They are all items which I have read or had value from, so I’ve given some indication on the particular strengths I believe each has.
All have links to purchase from Amazon or you can go direct to the publisher. Click on the links below to go to the books and resources in that category. (The links to books and other materials to purchase are via Amazon and I receive a commission payment from any purchases made via the links as an affiliate. Life Changing Books
This is a selection of books from across the categories that have had the biggest impact on me. They have, literally, changed my life and they may do so for you too. Visit the Life-Changing Books category.
Mindfulness and Personal Support
I am a trained and licensed mindfulness meditation teacher plus I can also provide a range of other methods of therapeutic support, as outlined in Personal Support. This section provides some books and resources which can help with this support. Visit the Mindfulness and Personal Support category.
Psychological Books and Resources
These are also related to our general mental and emotional wellbeing but don’t necessarily try to answer the really big questions of life. Many of them would fit into the self-help category but I dislike that term because it implies that there is something wrong with us that needs help or to be fixed. I think they just make our lives better and can give some meaning and direction to it. They include topics as diverse as intuition and motivation. Visit the Psychological Books and Resources category.
Spiritual Books
I class ‘spiritual’ books as being related to our general mental and emotional wellbeing and answering the question ‘why are we here and what’s the point?’, but without being allied to any specific religion. They might draw on a tradition or use language associated with one (such as ‘God’), but they do not require any belief or faith, just a willingness to be open to different ideas. Visit the Spiritual Books category or, for a more nature-based and Native American spirituality, visit Nature-based Spirituality.
Health Books and Resources
Our physical health is related to our general mental and emotional wellbeing. If we are in a good balanced place and live a peaceful life with wisdom, it is less likely that we will become ill. And if we do fall ill or have an injury, we can heal quicker. But it’s also true that illness and injury can lead us down spiritual or self-exploration routes because of the effect they have on our mental and emotional states. Suffering is paradoxically a route to achieving greater balance and happiness, and poor health is often at the root of our suffering.
The resources in this section are more holistic and energy based, rather than medical. They talk to the spirit and our own internal energy and resources, rather than areas that Western medicine concentrates on, i.e. ‘take a drug’. Visit the Health Books and Resources category.
Other Resources
I’ve encountered lots of interesting magazines and websites during my journey. I provide details and links to them in the Other Resources section.
Buddhist Books and materials
My journey has been greatly influenced by Buddhist teachings and practises. However, not everyone likes the religious aspects so I would suggest that anyone interested in Buddhist teachings visit the Resources section of the sister site, Buddhist Thoughts.
